J. Frederick Berg, Jr.Managing Partner

Mr. Berg has more than thirty years' experience advising, representing and advocating the interests of clients in commercial business transactions including the negotiation and drafting of all types of commercial agreements, real estate and construction contracts, commercial leases, joint venture agreements, shareholders' agreements, distribution agreements, license agreements, and other commercial contracts. His experience also includes the structuring, operation, merger and reorganization of corporations, limited liability companies and other business units. He represents clients headquartered in China, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Taiwan, the United States and other countries. His clients include multi-national corporate and institutional investors, industrial and financial companies, entrepreneurial ventures and individuals with substantial business interests.

Educational and Professional Background

Mr. Berg is a graduate of Yale University, cum laude, and the Columbia University School of Law. After graduation from law school, Mr. Berg served as Law Clerk to a Federal Judge and, thereafter, worked as an associate attorney with Dewey, Ballantine, Bushby, Palmer & Wood in New York. For sixteen years he was a partner at Walter, Conston, Alexander & Green, P. C. (now the New York office of Alston & Bird LLP). Mr. Berg then joined the New York office of Russin & Vecchi LLP which later became Russin, Vecchi, Berg & Bernstein LLP, where his practice continues to emphasize commercial business and real estate transactions.

Affiliations and Activities

Mr. Berg is an active alumnus of Yale University, where he is a Sterling Fellow, an Alumnus-Fellow of Yale's Saybrook College, a member of the University Library Council and a member of the Yale Baseball Association. In addition, he interviews applicants to Yale as a member of the Yale Alumni Schools Committee.
At his law school alma mater Columbia University School of Law he is a Harlan Fiske Stone Fellow and a member of the Board of Visitors. He has also served as Co-Chair of his Columbia Law School Class Reunion Committee.
